Von September 2012 reisten wir während einem Jahr von Thailand zurück in die Schweiz, soweit möglich über Land - zu zweit auf einem Motorrad (Honda Transalp), mit Zelt, Kochsachen, Kleidern, ... Nach einer Rundreise durch Südostasien entdeckten wir den indischen Subkontinenten, reisten dann in den Orient und von dort aus durch Osteuropa bis in die Schweiz. Aus geografischen oder geopolitischen Gründen mussten wir unterwegs zwei Mal verschiffen: einmal von Thailand nach Indien, das zweite Mal von Indien nach Dubai. From September 2012 we traveled during 1 year from Thailand back to Switzerland - when ever possible over land - two people on one motorbike (Honda Transalp), with all of our luggage, tent and cooking stuff. After a loop in Southeastasia we explored the Indian Subcontinent, then traveled through the Orient, and then drove towards Switzerland through Eastern Europe. Because of geographical or geopolitical reasons we had to ship the motorbike two times: Once from Thailand to India, the second time from India to Dubai. We wrote these blogposts during our journey. Laos ist ein wunderschönes Land, wir fühlen uns augenblicklich wohl. Atemberaubende Natur: Flüsse und Wasserfälle, Berge und Täler, Dschungel und Reisfelder wechseln sich ab.

Vom Süden Richtung Norden von Laos gibt es die Route 13. Diese ist gut ausgebaut, bequem zu fahren, jedoch landschaftlich nicht so reizvoll. Weiter im Landesinnern gibt es noch die Route 23. Diese ist jedoch problematisch und sie bescherte uns ein richtiges Dschungel Abenteuer.

The Route 13 leads from the South of Laos to the North. It is a well developed, easy to drive, but not so scenic road. Further inland, there is another road, Route 23. This road however turns out to be problematic and it is the reason for our jungle adventure.

Die Zeit geht in Laos wie im Flug vorbei. Die langsamere Zeitrechnung will nicht so recht zu unserer begrenzten visafreien Zeit in Laos passen. Zügig fahren wir von Savannakhet in Richtung Norden. Praktisch auf dem Weg liegt versteckt im ländlichen Laos ein Naturwunder sondergleichen: Die Kong Lor Caves.

After the idyllic sleepy country life in Kong Lor, we almost suffer from a little culture shock at the arrival in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. With only 800,000 inhabitants, the city is by no means a big city, but the difference to rural life is enormous.

Das von der UNESCO geschützte Luang Prabang gilt nicht umsonst als die schönste Stadt von Südostasien. Auch uns überzeugt sie mit ihrem französisch-indochinesischen Charme und beschert uns ein paar schöne Tage.

Zurück in Laos. Über dieselben Stationen wie wir gegangen sind kommen wir auch wieder zurück. Es fühlt sich schon fast an, wie nach Hause kommen. Im Nam Ha Nationalpark unternehmen wir ein Dschungeltrekking.
